Settings & Preferences
Configure MacsyZones to fit your workflow. All settings are accessible from the menu bar app.
Snap Key
Snap windows by pressing a snap key (combined with Modifier Key). When Modifier Key + Snap Key are both held, windows snap to zones and snap resizers appear between adjacent zone edges.
- Snap Key (default:
Shift) — press to snap the active window to a zone
Modifier Key
Activate snapping mode by holding a modifier key. When active, shows snap resizers between adjacent zone edges so you can resize windows across zones.

Control) — hold to activate snapping mode - Modifier Key Delay (default: 1000ms) — time to hold before snapping mode activates
Fallback to Previous Size
Restore windows to their prior size when zones grow larger.
- Fallback to Previous Size (default: enabled) — automatically restore windows when zones grow larger than their prior size
- Only Fallback with User Event (default: enabled) — only apply fallback for direct user actions, not programmatic changes
Per-Desktop Layouts
Use different zone layouts for each macOS Space.
- Select Per-Desktop Layout (default: enabled) — use different zone layouts for each macOS Space
Center-to-Snap Priority
Center windows within zones when snapping.
- Prioritize Center to Snap (default: enabled) — center windows within zones when snapping
Shake to Snap
Shake a window's title bar to snap it to a zone.
- Shake to Snap (default: enabled) — shake a window's title bar to snap it
- Shake Acceleration Threshold (default: 50000.0) — sensitivity threshold for shake detection
Snap Resize
Resize windows to match zone dimensions when snapped.
- Snap Resize (default: enabled) — resize windows to match zone dimensions when snapped
- Snap Resize Threshold (default: 33.0) — minimum resize delta before resize is applied (in points)
Quick Snap
One-shot snap for the active window via shortcut.
- Quick Snap Shortcut (default:
Control+Shift+S) — snap the active window immediately
Snap with Right Click
Right-click a window to snap it to a zone.
- Snap with Right Click (default: enabled) — right-click any window to snap it to a zone
Snap Resizers on Hover
Show visual resize handles near window edges.
- Show Snap Resizers on Hover (default: enabled) — display edge handles for snap-and-resize
Cycle Windows
Cycle through windows in the current zone.
- Cycle Windows Forward (default:
Command + ]) — move to next window in zone - Cycle Windows Backward (default:
Command + [) — move to previous window in zone
Snap Highlight Strategy
Choose how zones are visually highlighted during drag.
- Center Proximity (default) — highlight zone closest to window center
- Flat — highlight zones uniformly regardless of position
Layout Switcher
MacsyZones' new unique layout switcher allows you to switch between your layouts while moving a window seamlessly.
- Enable Layout Switcher (default: enabled)
Reset to Defaults
Reset all MacsyZones settings to their default values. This will revert all shortcuts, toggles, and thresholds — but your saved zone layouts are not affected.

- • All shortcuts, toggles, and thresholds return to their original values
